Okay, wow, what a month. We started the month with the country erupting in protest over George Floyd’s death, and saw several prominent institutions like Bon Appetit (more on that shortly), Everlane, L’Oreal, various women’s media sites like Man Repeller, Refinery 29, and so many more crumble under the subsequent reckoning. June also saw a steep, dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases throughout the USA. In case you missed it, I spent the week matching donations for black-owned and black-led social justice nonprofit organizations like Campaign Zero, The Loveland Foundation, SAAFON, and Woke Vote to help uplift the Black Lives Matter movement. Together, we raised almost $6k for the different causes! Read the blog post to learn more about each organization, the problems they’re trying to fix, and see how much we raised for each.

It is heartbreaking that this still needs to be said, but here goes: BLACK LIVES MATTER. RIP George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the countless other black men and women whose lives were pointlessly, violently lost due to the intense systemic racism and prejudice in this country.
I wish I had good news to report, but the truth is, well…🤷🏻♀️. It feels like many things are still in limbo or on hold indefinitely. My city of Portland is still in lockdown. In any case, Erlend and I made the decision to postpone our August wedding.

At the start of last month, I candidly wrote about how the pandemic has affected my blog. Since then, other content creators and influencers have opened up about their same struggle. In addition to sponsorship opportunities slowing down, brands have actively pulled advertising on any posts mentioning anything related to the pandemic.
