The first maple bacon dessert I ever had was a maple bacon donut at Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, Oregon. One of the only late night places open to under 21-year-olds, my friends and I spent far too much time there standing in line for crazy donuts topped with bacon, Kool Aid, cereal, and more.

Although Voodoo Doughnuts has long been de-throned by other places like Blue Star Donuts and Pip’s, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for their maple bacon donut. When fresh from the fryer, it was a hard donut to beat — think: fluffy, yeasty donuts topped with maple glaze and a fresh slice of bacon. These rolls are an homage to their donut and perfect for any sort of brunch situation.
