It's the Weekend, It's the Weekend!

Hey guys!

I'm starting a new column for the blog full of the links I read and enjoyed during the week. It's kind of an awkward time to start it, since I'll be heading to New York City next week for the Saveur Food Blog Awards ceremony (!!!) and probably won't get around to it next weekend, but what the heck, right?

Enjoy the weekend!

...  if you're going to San Francisco ...

...  this is how we do it …
  • Alice Medrich, my baking hero, taught me some new tricks I didn’t know (even despite the years of baking under my belt!) on preparing cake pans for success.
  • I always wondered where to buy these beautiful knotted ring trivets, but it turns out you can easily do it yourself at home.

...  and you, you can read me anything

...  our house is a very, very, very fine house …

... every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top ...

...  surf it, scroll it, pause it, click it …

...  how they love the sporting life ...

...  you had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself go by …

...  cash rules everything around me …
  • I love to daydream about quitting my dayjob and starting my own bakery. What’s stopping me? Money, money, money.

... yeah, living the raw deal – three-course meal! ...

STARTER
Stinging Nettle Pancakes with Lingonberry Jam
(and yay, Sini's back!!!)

MAIN

DESSERT
Tim Tam Pavlova
(I got hooked on Tim Tam cookies when my Australian coworker brought back several packets for the company — they're now apparently available at Target!)

And be sure to comment with any links, recipes, and GIFS you think I'll like!

  1. My friend bought me some Tim Tams, and I left them at home so I wouldn't devour them alone when I got back to school after break. Less than three weeks later, the package I reiterated wasn't to be opened until I got back home had 2 left. And they didn't even try it with hot milk! Even my friend's mom was a bit annoyed.

  7. Thanks Abby! I'm glad Sini's back too; I can't believe that her content was plagiarized though. People are the worst.

  8. YES! I haven't made it out to Mr. Holmes yet; I hear the lines are crazy, so go early. And report back!!!

  10. Yay! So glad you liked it — I wasn't sure if people were going to even read or click on anything. And I feel ya about the not having time thing. We'll see how it goes!

  12. Ooh, I had not heard of Mr. Holmes before so I'll have to try for a cruffin sometime soon. I'm guessing the key, like everything in SF, is show up at opening time to avoid the line. Looks like this is next weekend's project.

  14. Thanks for the link love <3
That door pic is just phenomenal. And Tim Tam cookie love here as well; fell in love with them while I was traveling in Australia a couple of years ago. Dip them in coffee and drink coffee through the Tim Tam...yeah, that's how we do it.

  15. Thanks, ladies <3 Yeah, that mirroring thing is so nasty and it's affecting many other bloggers and website owners as well :(

  16. You are very talented as a baker. Have you ever considered partnering up with someone in order to make your dream true of opening the bakery ? I wonder if crowdfunding would work as well? hmm.

  17. The TL is apparently hip and happening these days! We'll be okay ;-)

  18. YUM. That sounds amazing. I should really try and find some over here!

  19. I have thought about it! The key would be finding a partner who's worked in commercial food/baking before, because I have zero experience.
